Finland’s flag carrier, Finnair, launched flights from the capital Helsinki to the Croatian capital Zagreb, the Zagreb airport operator said.
Finnair will connect Helsinki and Zagreb three times a week – on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, the Zagreb Airport International Company (ZAIC) said in a press release on Monday.
Finnair conducted its inaugural flight from Helsinki to Zagreb on May 1.
The passenger traffic at Zagreb Airport surged 328% on the year to 485,286 in the first quarter of this year, Aeroports de Paris (ADP), which is a shareholder in ZAIC, said last month.
ADP and Turkey’s TAV Airports, 46%-owned by ADP Group, hold stakes of 21% and 15%, respectively, in ZAIC. The remaining shareholders are France’s Bouygues Batiment International with 20.8%, EU-backed Marguerite Fund with 20.8%, IFC with 17.6%, and Croatia’s Viadukt with 5.1%.
In 2012, the Croatian government and ZAIC signed a 30-year concession contract for the management of the airport and the construction of a new terminal.
