Zagreb Airport Breaks Passenger Record Ahead of Easter Holidays

Zagreb, April 22, 2025 — Zagreb Airport experienced its busiest day on record last Thursday, April 17, as travelers flocked to the skies ahead of the Easter holiday break. A total of 16,580 passengers passed through the airport in just 24 hours, surpassing the previous record of 16,197 travelers set on June 14, 2024.

Low-cost carrier Ryanair offered the highest seating capacity on the day, with 6,946 available seats. Croatia Airlines followed closely with 6,396 seats, while Lufthansa provided 1,268. Despite Ryanair’s capacity lead, Croatia Airlines operated the most flights, completing 55 rotations compared to Ryanair’s 38 and Lufthansa’s 8.

The most in-demand destinations by capacity included Dubrovnik, Istanbul, and Split. The airport’s peak traffic period occurred between 14:00 and 15:00, when eight commercial departures and five arrivals took place, highlighting a particularly intense hour of operations.

This milestone is particularly noteworthy given that April is typically not among the busiest months for air travel, which usually peaks from May through August. The surge in passenger numbers ahead of Easter marks a strong and early kickoff to the travel season.
