Zagreb Airport H1 passenger traffic better than expected
Passenger traffic at Zagreb Airport dropped 38% on the year to 337,372 in the first half of 2021, Aeroports de Paris (ADP), which is a shareholder in the company operating Croatia’s biggest international airport, said.
In June alone, Zagreb Airport served 100,933 passengers, up by 56,531 passengers compared with June 2020, ADP said in a statement on Thursday.
In the twelve months through June, the number of passengers fell by 71% to 714,460.
Aircraft movements at the airport increased by 1.4% on the year to 10,658 in the January-June period. In June alone the figure reached 2,426, up by 1,288 from June 2020.
In the twelve months through June, aircraft movement dropped 37% to 21,656.
In 2020, air transport in Croatia was suspended from late March until late May due to the coronavirus outbreak.
ADP and Turkey’s TAV Airports, 46%-owned by ADP Group, hold stakes of 21% and 15%, respectively, in airport operator Zagreb Airport International Company (ZAIC).
In 2012, the Croatian government and ZAIC signed a 30-year concession contract for the management of the airport and the construction of a new terminal.
The remaining shareholders in ZAIC are France’s Bouygues Batiment International with 20.8%, EU-backed Marguerite Fund with 20.8%, IFC with 17.6%, and Croatia’s Viadukt with 5.1%.
