Zagreb Airport Anticipates Another Record Year Following a 19.2% Increase in 2023
Zagreb Airport is poised for another record-setting year after experiencing its busiest year on record in 2023, handling 3.72 million passengers. This marked a significant 19.2% increase from 2022 and an 8.4% improvement over pre-pandemic levels in 2019. The surge was largely fueled by Ryanair, which handled over a million passengers during 2023 and this year 7 new routes have already been announced.
Looking ahead, Zagreb Airport aims to surpass the four million passenger mark this year. Pegasus Airlines is set to become the newest carrier to launch flights to the Croatian capital, introducing services from Istanbul’s Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Additionally, Ryanair has announced plans to launch five new routes from Zagreb this summer to Alicante, Girona, Palma de Mallorca, Pisa, and Marseille. Further boosting prospects for growth, Korean low-cost carrier T’Way Air has scheduled weekly operations from Seoul starting in July.
At this early stage in the year, Zagreb Airport has already put 5.67 million seats on the market for 2024, representing a 17.4% increase from the previous year. Croatia Airlines remains the largest airline in terms of capacity, with two million seats, followed by Ryanair and Lufthansa.
