Airport Parking Becomes Key Investment Focus as AviAlliance and APCOA Expand Holdings

Major investors are increasingly targeting airport parking infrastructure, with AviAlliance and APCOA securing key expansions in the sector.

AviAlliance has completed its £1.53 billion acquisition of AGS Airports, adding Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Southampton airports to its portfolio. This includes 7,732 parking spaces: 2,159 at Aberdeen, 3,214 at Glasgow, and 2,359 at Southampton.

Meanwhile, APCOA – Europes leading parking operator with more than 1.8 million individual parking spaces across 12 different countries – has entered a long-term partnership with London Luton Airport, securing a five-year contract to manage parking services, including valet operations, enforcement, and customer service. The company will also take on management of the central terminal area.

Additionally, APCOA is expanding its presence in Ireland with the opening of a 6,100-space parking facility at Dublin Airport on March 10, 2025. Operating under the ‘Park2Travel’ brand, the 42-acre facility will offer shuttle service to the terminal and aims to ease parking congestion as passenger numbers grow.

These expansions come in response to record-high passenger numbers across global air travel, which continue to surge following the industry’s incredible post-pandemic recovery.
In 2024, Zagreb Airport saw a 25.6 % increase in passengers compared to 2019 and a 15,9 % compared to 2023 (it’s previous record year), highlighting the trend as one of the industrys top performers.
On a global scale, airlines offered 5.85 billion seats on scheduled flights in 2024, surpassing the previous record of 5.72 billion in 2019 and with a 6% year-on-year increase in seat capacity driven by rising demand and larger aircraft.

With airports facing increasing pressure, parking infrastructure has become a crucial asset, driving major investment in capacity and efficiency.
