Zagreb Airport Aims for Record-Breaking Four Million Passengers with Ryanair’s Expansion

Zagreb Airport is set to soar to new heights this year, eyeing a milestone of over four million passengers as it rides the wave of expansion fueled by Ryanair. The budget carrier recently announced the basing of its fourth jet in the Croatian capital and launched five new routes, solidifying Zagreb’s position as a burgeoning hub in the region.

With a robust network of 66 destinations, including six domestic and sixty international routes, Zagreb Airport is gearing up for a summer of unprecedented growth. The projected double-digit surge in passenger numbers throughout the summer months underscores the airport’s status as a key player in the European aviation landscape.

The airport’s General Manager, Huseying Bahadir Bedir, said, “We started the year off on a positive note by welcoming our new airline partner Pegasus Airlines. This summer, Croatia Airlines is introducing three new routes from Zagreb, to Berlin, Stockholm, and Tirana. Ryanair is expanding its network with five new destinations. Our new long-haul partner T’Way Air will commence flights from Seoul in May, with services to run three times per week until late October. We also anticipate an increase in frequencies on flights from Toronto and Dubai, as well as other destinations”. He added, “If all goes to plan, we expect that this year, for the first time in the airport’s history, we will handle over four million passengers”.

Moreover, the introduction of long-haul flights by T’Way Air from Seoul signifies the airport’s growing global reach.

A slew of carriers, including Iberia, Turkish Airlines, KLM, Lufthansa, Air France, Flydubai, Air Serbia, and Qatar Airways, are also ramping up operations from Zagreb Airport this summer. With increased frequencies, additional flights, and expanded services, these airlines collectively contribute to the airport’s ambitious growth trajectory.

In total, twenty airlines will serve Zagreb Airport during the summer season, reflecting the growing appeal of the Croatian capital as a travel destination and transit hub. The concerted efforts of both airlines and airport authorities position Zagreb as a pivotal gateway connecting Europe and beyond.

As Zagreb Airport gears up for a landmark year, all signs point to a bustling summer season characterized by increased connectivity, enhanced services, and a record-breaking number of passengers traversing its terminals. With continued investments and strategic partnerships, Zagreb remains poised for sustained growth and prominence in the global aviation arena.
